PicoWay® Laser Treatment by Candela

Advanced Laser Technology for Skin Rejuvenation, Pigmentation & Tattoo Removal

At Rejuva Laser, we are committed to bringing advanced aesthetic technology and personalised skin treatments to our clients. PicoWay® by Candela is an advanced picosecond laser system designed to address a range of skin concerns, including unwanted pigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles and unwanted tattoos.

Using ultra-short pulses of laser energy, PicoWay targets pigment beneath the skin’s surface while helping to minimise unnecessary heat exposure to surrounding tissue. Depending on the treatment selected, it can also stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, helping improve the appearance of skin texture and overall skin quality.

Whether your goal is to achieve a more even complexion, improve the appearance of acne scars or gradually fade an unwanted tattoo, our team will assess your individual concerns and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your skin.

What Is PicoWay® Laser?

PicoWay is an advanced picosecond laser system developed by Candela, a recognised manufacturer of medical and aesthetic laser technology.

Unlike traditional lasers that deliver energy over longer pulse durations, PicoWay delivers energy in picoseconds — trillionths of a second. This creates a photoacoustic effect that helps break down targeted pigment into smaller particles, which the body can gradually clear through its natural processes.

With specialised handpieces and different wavelengths, PicoWay can also be used for selected skin rejuvenation treatments, including the improvement of certain acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles.

What Can PicoWay Treat?

1. Pigmentation & Dark Spots

Uneven pigmentation can develop due to sun exposure, ageing and other skin-related factors. PicoWay can target selected benign pigmented lesions to help reduce the appearance of unwanted dark spots and create a more even-looking complexion.

Depending on your skin and the type of pigmentation, treatment may be suitable for concerns such as:

  • Sun spots and age spots
  • Certain types of freckles and pigmentation
  • Selected benign pigmented lesions
  • Certain cases of melasma, following careful professional assessment

Not all pigmentation is suitable for laser treatment. Melasma, in particular, can be complex and may worsen or recur, so an individual assessment is essential before treatment.

2. Acne Scarring & Skin Texture

Acne scars can leave the skin looking uneven, textured or marked long after active breakouts have settled.

When used with the appropriate PicoWay Resolve handpiece, the laser creates controlled microscopic effects beneath the skin’s surface to encourage collagen and elastin production. Over a course of treatments, this may help improve the appearance of selected acne scars and uneven skin texture.

Results develop gradually as the skin responds to treatment, and suitability depends on the type and severity of scarring.

3. Fine Lines & Wrinkles

PicoWay’s skin rejuvenation technology can be used to improve the appearance of certain fine lines and wrinkles by encouraging natural collagen remodelling.

As collagen production develops over time, the skin may appear smoother and more refined. A course of treatments may be recommended depending on your skin concerns and desired outcome.

PicoWay is not a substitute for surgery or a guaranteed solution for deeper wrinkles, and results vary between individuals.

4. Laser Tattoo Removal

PicoWay is designed to target tattoo ink using ultra-short pulses of laser energy. The energy fragments the ink into smaller particles, which the body gradually eliminates over time.

Depending on the tattoo and the wavelengths available, PicoWay can treat a range of ink colours, including black, brown, red, orange, blue and green.

The number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the tattoo’s size, age, location, ink colours, depth, density and any previous removal treatments. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed, and some tattoos may leave residual pigment or skin changes.

5. Selected Pigmented Skin Lesions

PicoWay may also be suitable for certain benign pigmented lesions that affect the skin’s appearance. A professional assessment is required to determine whether the lesion is appropriate for laser treatment. Any suspicious or undiagnosed skin lesion should be assessed by an appropriate medical professional before cosmetic treatment.

Skin rejuvenation potential

Selected treatment modes can encourage collagen and elastin production to help improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles.

Options for different skin tones

PicoWay offers treatment options for a range of skin tones. However, the appropriate wavelength, treatment settings and suitability must be assessed individually, particularly for darker skin types.

Many PicoWay treatments involve relatively little downtime, although temporary redness, swelling, sensitivity and other skin reactions can occur depending on the treatment performed.

What Happens During Your PicoWay Treatment?

Step 1: Personalised Consultation

We begin by discussing your concerns, medical history, skin type and treatment goals. Your practitioner will assess your skin or tattoo and determine whether PicoWay is an appropriate option.

Step 2: Tailored Treatment

The appropriate wavelength, handpiece and settings are selected according to your individual needs. Protective eyewear and any necessary safety precautions are used throughout treatment.

Step 3: Aftercare & Recovery

Following treatment, you will receive advice specific to the area treated. This may include gentle skincare, avoiding excessive heat or friction, and protecting the skin from sunlight.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or changes in pigmentation may occur. Tattoo removal may also cause temporary whitening, pinpoint bleeding or crusting.

Step 4: Your Treatment Plan

Some concerns may improve after a single session, while others require a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart. Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations and appropriate intervals during your consultation.

Is PicoWay Suitable for Me?

PicoWay may be an option for clients looking to address selected pigmentation concerns, acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles or unwanted tattoos.

However, not every concern is suitable for laser treatment. Your suitability will depend on your skin type, the condition being treated, medical history, current skincare and any previous treatments.

We will assess your individual needs before recommending a treatment plan. Where necessary, you may be advised to seek further medical assessment before proceeding.
